Birchwood Apartment

White is currently working on another 4 bedroom luxury apartment in Hiranandani towers (OMR, Chennai) where work is progressing into the construction stage. The Client’s brief for the project was to design a contemporary apartment home using modern materials and finishes. They were keen to move away from hardwood furniture and wood veneer finishes which is the norm in most Indian homes. The project was interesting as we wanted to create spaces that were modern with clean lines but we also wanted to introduce colours and detail with an emphasis on luxury.

The living, dining and kitchen spaces are open plan. Patterned screens in Corian are used to define and separate functions. In the living room, different shades of blue create a soothing environment and connect the eye to the sea views beyond. Each bedroom has been designed around the specific tastes of the individuals and each has a completely unique character. The daughter’s bedroom has a young and lively feel with a vibrant multi-coloured palette. The son’s bedroom is more masculine with navy blue, greys and bronze with geometric patterning. The master bedroom is a modern twist on a ‘royal purple’ colour scheme.

Family home in Ashok Nagar

White has recently completed concept design for a large 3 bedroom apartment in Ashok Nagar. The layout of the apartment was open with two large Living rooms, Kitchen and Dining space that flow into each other.

The concept was developed around a beautiful patterned floor layout that connects the spaces together and becomes the main focal feature. We researched into a number of patterns and types of tiles and finally decided on a bespoke athangudi tile pattern in neutral colours.

The first living room is designed to be pleasing and welcoming to visitors bringing some greenery into the space and using a palette of greens in the soft furnishings.

The second living room is for the family and has a more cozy feel with a warmer palette. There are also some smaller ‘nook’ areas that are designed to be intimate areas for quiet reflection within the larger open space.

The two teenage boys' room has been designed with their tastes in mind and has a very sleek finish. The master bedroom on the other hand is more homely with a distinct ethnic touch.
